Carlos Mundy, the current Count of Mondaye ( a Norman title that dates back to the XI century!) , was born in Bilbao (Spain) but lived in London until the age of twelve, when he moved to Madrid (Spain) with his parents and brothers. He studied in Spain and went to University to study journalism. During those years he was already working as a freelance journalist for several Spanish magazines. AT the age of 19 he took off on a round the world tour for two years working as a model to make ends meet. On his return he founded a model agency in 1982 which he managed until 1996 and became the top agency in Spain with offices in Madrid and Barcelona. During those years he traveled the world extensively on scouting trips and he also continued working as a freelance journalist doing interviews to top fashion designers, heads of state and celebrities. He also wrote many travel pieces: his passion. In the year 2000 he founded Metaphore Magazine: Creative Culture, a must read in the Spanish publishing scene. The magazine was a monthly that lasted two years. In 2003 he published the Spanish version of The Rainbow Warrior, co- written with his sister Charis and that was published in the US in 2007. His next book, The Toucan Lodge was published simultaneously in the UK and the US in 2009 and its Spanish publication in 2010. The novel was re-released in the UK in 2011 under the title Gestapo Lodge. This was followed by the publication of the successful historical novel, "The Romanov Lost Icon and the Enigma of Anastasia" (Thames River Press) in 2013, co-written with historian Marie Stravlo. 2015 has seen the publication of an epic fantasy co-written again with his sister Charis, "The Twilight of the Fourth World," inspired by the teachings of His Holiness The Dalai Lama and the Hopi Indian prophecies. Before the end of the year his latest historical novel, "The Indian Kings of France: The fascinating story of the Bourbons of Bhopal" is expected to be published. Carlos is currently working on the production of Unforgettable, a tribute to the Legends of Hollywood which is scheduled to start shooting in Jodphur (India) in 2017 with a fabulous cast of legends. Carlos is a show jumper and when time permits, he continues to paint. He had two successful exhibits in the nineties. He is also a member of The Comite de APoyo al Tibet. The Spanish NGO, that has lobbied successfully to have the Spanish courts start criminal proceedings against Chinese Communist leaders for Crimes against Humanity committed in occupied Tibet. He was made a Knight of the Royal Order of the Principality of Hutt River in 2007, became a Knight of the Ecumenic Order of Malta in 2011 and received THE WOMEN TOGETHER AWARD at the United Nations for his philanthropic anonymous work with Tibet. 6. Today is the 75th birthday of His Majesty King Juan Carlos. He will celebrate it privately with his family though the occassion should be rejoiced by all the Spanish.
During his 37 year reign Spain has been transformed from a backward uncultured society into a vibrant and modern one and has become the 10th most important economy. Thwere are many problems now with the economical crisis and the lack of support to the plitical class that is mediocre to say the least.
It is fortunate that we have the KING to guarantee stability as he has done during all these years.
We need to go back to the spirit of the political transition from Dictatorship to Democracy in which the political parties of all colours joined together for the cause of Spain.
The King’s interview on national TV was great as he made a point that it is no time to divide Spain in clear reference to the absurd pretence of independance of Catalonia.
This has no historical backgroung as Catalonia was part of the Kingdom of Aragon. The same applies to the Basques. The Basque country was never independant as such but part of the Kingdom of Navarre.
Politicians tend to rewrite history to adapt it to their personal agendas and this is what is happening now.
I do beleiev the King will use all his constitutional power to prvent the desintegration of Spain.
On this very auspicious day of His MAjesty’s birthday I wish him a long life. God Save the King!

  9. I saw with great interest today a documentary on Al Jazeera on Monarchy versus Republic. Some anti Monarchist were using the nonsense argument of the cost of Monarchy when in reality most of the 1st world republics cosst much more that any of the European monarchies.
The King of Spain receives under 11 million US$ while The President of France recieves 137 million!! SO that argument is ridiculous. Not only that but a Constitutional Monarch represents the whole nation and is above politics. He or She ar ethe best representatives of their countries, the number one Ambassadors and they bring many big contracts that benefit their economies.
The British Monarchy for example brings in inmense revenues in tourism to the UK and the Royal Family is loved and admired.
I would always choose a Constitutional Monarchy above any form of Republican government.

  10. An intriguing discussion is worth comment. I do think that you ought to write more on this topic, it might not be a taboo matter but typically people don’t discuss such issues. To the next! Many thanks!!

  17. The situation in Spain is really sad. There is a black hand behind the campaign to tarnish the image of the monarchy.Iñaki Undangarin, the husband of Infanta Cristina is an absolute fool and his behaviour has been disgraceful and has hurt very much the image of the Crown though this is most unfair as His Majesty King Juan Carlos has been an extraordinary monarch. Unfortunately, in SPain, we have a fragile memory and people are easily manipulated by half truths and half lies.
For example, El Mundo newspaper, with very bad intentions, has published the will of the King’s father who died 20 years ago. To start with it is a private document but they have suggested the King has accounts in Switzerland. This is a lie because it was Her Majesty Queen Victoria Eugenia who lived in exile in Switzerland that had accounts there and her son inherited these accounts and in turn the King. This happened 20 years ago so its disgusting to use this story and tarnish the good image of the King.
I feel so ashamed and so sad by all this rubbish. The Monarchy is above all this and I know the King will pass the Crown to the Prince of Asturias, his son and heir and future King Felipe VI. Long Live the King!
